If dentistry frightens you, you’re not alone. Dentistry is a famously overlooked subject in veterinary. It’s hard to believe that dentistry diverges from human medicine into its own career path while in veterinary, it is rarely part of the curriculum for vets or nurses. A whopping 80% of veterinary patients have some level of dental disease and meanwhile dentistry only accounts for 7% of a practice’s gross income. This isn’t a surprising statistic. Dentistry is technically demanding and with no formal education, it’s developed a “delay and worry about it later” precedent. Ironically, the treatment difficulty multiplies the longer you leave it (and not to mention the patient is also in tremendous discomfort and pain!)

But (and it’s a large but), iM3 are here to help. We extensively work with dental specialists from around the world to build our own knowledge and expertise to share it with you. Education plays an important part of what we do and that’s why we’ve created this handbook. We hope this inspires you to recognise the value, importance and potential of dentistry.
